Fall 2020 youth football and cheer have been cancelled. For the latest news and updates, check out our Facebook page.
I regret to inform you that the CFCA Board of Directors and Spring sports commissioners have made the difficult decision to officially cancel all CFCA Spring sports seasons. With the closure of NY schools for the remainder of the school year, the CFCS fields will be unavailable for use, at least through the end of June, and most likely for longer. Use of other local town and State Park fields will also not be allowed. The lack of field space, combined with the inevitable continuation of social distancing rules and limits on group gatherings, makes a Spring season of any kind not possible across all our sports.
Our treasurer will be processing refunds. For those whose payments have already been processed (primarily those that signed up in-person), you will be receiving a refund check in the mail. For those whose payment has not been processed (primarily those that signed up by check via mail-in forms, after in-person sign-ups occurred), you will receive an email verifying that your check has been shredded.
I have already begun discussions with CF school representatives to try and make sure we do all we can to not lose a Fall sports season as well. The health and wellbeing of our members will always be our highest priority, but we also are adamant believers that youth sports can help provide that health and wellbeing to our children. We look forward to the time when the CFCA can again provide those opportunities.
On behalf of the CFCA, I wish your family health and safety during these challenging times.
President’s Corner: CFCA Programs Under Pressure
For nearly 50 years the CFCA has been focused on providing sports and other programs for the youth of our area. A hallmark of the CFCA has always been it’s volunteers. We have always been a volunteer organization, with everyone from the board of directors to the assistant coaches giving of their time and talents supporting the programs that benefit of our regions children.
Recently, we have seen a marked decline in volunteerism across all of our programs. While our participation numbers remain at relatively the same level year-to-year, each season it is harder and harder to find the number of coaches and other volunteers we need. Sport commissioners and coaches, who already handle the primary workload of planning and organizing programs, end up doing many other tasks as well, such as fundraising, concession stands, etc.. There are always many jobs that need to be done, please consider what you can do as a volunteer. Your contributions are needed, and will keep our programs going.

Thanks to all spring sports commissioners, coaches, & volunteers for another successful CFCA spring sports season
Our 5 Spring Sports programs successfully gave 330+ children a chance to develop their skills. CFCA programs don’t run successfully without the help of all the willing volunteers. Thanks to Commissioners Justin Frost (Softball), Jim Bender (Baseball), Mike Boyle (Majors BB), Vinnie and Amy Polocek (Boy’s Lacrosse), JT O’Brien (Girl’s Lacrosse), and Kyle Blackman (Tee-Ball) for their dedication to our youth. Thanks also to ALL the various coordinators, coaches and other volunteers that make it possible for the CFCA to have such successful programs. 6/2/2018
